Our Aim

Elimbari Logo Small

Our aim is to breed white suri alpacas with fleece that is perfectly suited for the highest quality production. In order to do that we are concentrating on developing animals that have excellent conformation and health, as well as density, lustre, locking and an appropriate amount of greasiness denoting a strong healthy fleece. Uniformity of all those things, plus micron, is an equally important aim. It doesn’t start and end with genetics, however. We believe they’re just part of a complex interaction that starts with the soil and we’re working hard to develop our animals literally from the ground up. Sometimes it feels a bit like juggling but we’re sure it can be achieved in one consistent package.

We carefully select our animals to reflect our aims and only use superior genetics. We initially used Senator and Amador genetics and mixed Kirrala Amadeus, Snowmass Illumination, Surilana Quo Vadis and in recent years a number of Icalon/Piccolo progeny. We now have five stud males.

Over the last few years we have improved our female alpacas both with the purchase of some fabulous pregnant females from Surilana and Alabaster studs which have improved our cria.

All this has resulted in multiple broad ribbons at Charles Ledger, Carousel of Colour, Royal Canberra as well as Boorowa and Gunning Shows. We look forward to even better results in coming years.

There is nothing as beautiful as a beautiful suri and we love learning about and working with them. There’s so much more to alpacas than cattle in our opinion. They’re more interactive and entertaining – and, of course – so much more attractive!
